This is probably the only contribution I'll ever make to this community:

Enjoy it.

And if there's a problem with copyright or trademark infringement or something....I don't want to know.

For anyone who hasn't noticed yet, petridish is once again back up and running.

Henry explained the recent downtime in the petridish discussion forum: "petri had a power-supply failure which caused a harddrive failure. New power supply is in, and as I've learned my lesson from the the big crash, petridish has redundant harddrives (and off-site backup) so no data was lost. It should stay up now, It had gone down while i was in london. "

so, the problem with petri is that it's a one-man show. and when henry had the time and inclination to do so, it was maintained very well, and worked great.

but for whatever reason these days, it's being neglected. it's down more than it's up. the bugs don't get fixed (or even addressed in the forums). new bugs (but not really many features) are introduced a lot. and it's kind of unfair of people to blame henry necessarily (except as far as people put faith in him).... really, i think a more open-source open-management version is needed.

so, first, does anyone know of any alternative sites?

if not. i have been thinking about an open-source, distributed-data version of petridish - which, once implemented, would take the responsibility out of any one person's hands. (and put the responsibility more into the users and their friends' hands).

what do people think?

So, once again, petridish is down.
Does anyone know why?
